Scholars for 9/11 Truth & Justice: Statement Against Violence

March 5th, 2010 Posted in

Scholars for 9-11 Truth and Justice, abhorring violence, explicitly rejects:

(i) Terrorism, understood as the use of violence against civilians in an attempt to intimidate populations;

(ii) Wars of aggression, war crimes, and crimes against humanity;

(iii) Militarisation of societies, understood as the deformation of societies by national security policies and ideologies and by the favouring of military spending over humane use of resources.

Scholars for 9-11 Truth and Justice affirms the purpose and principles of the Culture of Peace as declared by the General Assembly of the United Nations:

UN General Assembly Resolution 53/243:
Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace

Scholars for 9/11 Truth & Justice supports responsible, open academic inquiry. We explicitly reject attempts to denigrate responsible research with terms such as “violent radicalization,” “conspiracy theories,” and “internet terror.” We embrace the internet as a powerful tool for free, open exchange and discussion, and oppose restrictions that would interfere with such use of the internet. We disavow any affiliation or connection to those who use the internet for violent purposes.

Scholars for 9/11 Truth & Justice affirms the use of nonviolent non-cooperation as a humane and effective means of resisting tyranny, oppression and war, and we encourage activists to use nonviolent methods creatively and responsibly.
